Psalms 33:18 March 1, 2012

Suzanne Burton

"but the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love."

"I've got eyes in the back of my head!" That's what our mother would say when she seemed to know exactly what mischief we were up to as kids. She didn't even have to turn around and look, she could sense when something was going wrong. It is comforting to know that our parent was looking out for us, but also a little scary. That is how God our Father watches over us. The purpose is not to scare or condemn, but to make sure we are safe and following in his direction, knowing that His love for us is unfailing and unending. Like a loving parent, God will be there to wipe away tears when we make a mess of things. His love endures forever and through all of our mischief.

Prayer: Lord, help me to be mindful of your eyes upon me today so that my actions may be pleasing to you. Amen.
