"Happy is he whose help is in the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord his God."
Dependency and yielding totally to God are what we must do to be a child of God. We come to know God by faith, through grace. Only then can we receive those things that lead to happiness. Grace is a gift from God through Christ.
Hope is what gets us through the darkest night. Those who trust in God, the Creator, are happy and have hope.
God is to be trusted and keeps His promises forever. In trusting God we find peace, love and strength to prevail and overcome. Think of ways in your life you have found happiness through God: an answered prayer, a blessed moment, a miracle large or small. This is the gift of happiness.
When we rest in Him during times of sadness: death, illness, failures, He is faithful and gives us hope.
"When darkness veils His lovely face, I rest on His unchanging grace;
In every high and stormy gale, My anchor holds within the veil."
Prayer: Thank you, Father, tor the gift of happiness and hope, which come from knowing you. Amen.
