Isaiah 62:2

Connie Harris

"The nations will see your righteousness, and all kings your glory; you will be called by a new name that the mouth of the LORD will bestow." (NIV)

During this Lenten season we are talking about things "New". In this verse it mentions being called by a "new" name that the mouth of the Lord will bestow...

What does "New" mean to us?

Some years ago, I started a "new" life when I went through the death of my father... I now understand the scripture with more reverence than ever before, "A Father to the fatherless..." (Psalm 68:5)

One of my best friends started a "new" life when she was told by the doctors, "We did all we could to save your little boy."

Our daughter has started a "new" life as an adult now where she is insecure and frightened.

"New" can mean we are lonely, weary, empty, frustrated, hurting, hopeless, fearful, or discouraged; "new" is not always something wonderful. During these moments of our life, it is almost impossible to reason with us.

This is when we have to call on God's words, because it is at this time in our life, nothing else makes sense. This is when we hold on to "My grace is enough; it's all you need." (2 Co 12:9)

It is during this time when the weaker we become, the brighter our light shines. The light of our Lord shines through the torn and battered places in our life... reveals His Light into a world of darkness...

Thank you Abba Father for our new name ...a name chosen by the Lord as righteous and holy.
