"You have heard these things; look at them all Will you not admit them? From now on I will tell you of new things, of hidden things unknown to you". NIV
God is constantly telling us what is going on around us, what has happened, and what is going to happen. Like Israel we completely ignore God; like Pearce running towards the stairs as I tell him to stop. "Mwah mwah mwahwah" is all we hear. However, God does not ignore us and like I do with my own child, God grabs our attention and demands that we acknowledge his wisdom. God lets us know he is exasperated, even angry at our stubborn willful ignorance. Then he says, "now that you are listening let me tell you what you don't know".
Every now and then God has to bring us up short; make us listen to what he is saying. Only then can he tell us of the good things he wants us to know. Only then can he teach us the things we need to know. Then and only then can we begin anew to live our lives in God.
"Lord, forgive us for our blind willfulness. Please open our eyes, ears, and hearts to your words and your wisdom. Enable us to live new lives in you, Lord. In Jesus name we pray."
